27 Weeks

This week I had another midwife check-up. She gave me the third trimester run down - pretty crazy. I took another glucose test and passed. My iron is a little better than last month, but still too low. I've been taking an iron supplement so I'm not sure what else to do about that.. We came to our appointment with a bunch of questions and our midwife was amazing about it. LOL - We liked everything she had to say, so I definitely want to have my baby there. Still not thrilled about going to a hospital, but it's nice that they accommodate so much (having telemetry so I can leave the room, labor in water.. EAT during labor if I want, delayed cord clamping, hold my baby immediately and then uninterrupted for at least an hour if all is well, deliver in whatever position I want - HUGE for us.)
Tuesday we met with a doula that had been highly recommended to us and we loved her! I really hope I am able to labor at home for a while and have a vaginal birth. Especially after committing to pay someone $700 to support me through labor. I hope we didn't jump the gun on that!

How far along: 27 Weeks

Total weight gain: 19lbs - woof.

Maternity clothes: Some

Stretch marks: No

Sleep: Not well :(

Best moment of this week: Meeting, interviewing & hiring our doula, Laura! Meeting another TIU girl, Christina -  & Meeting some pretty awesome moms in a Bible study.

Miss anything: Being able to move easily, haha.

Movement: a LOT. :D And I think she flipped last night! Hopefully she'll stay there!

Food cravings: I'd kill for a banana split!

Anything making you queasy or sick: No

Have you started to show yet: Yes.

Gender: GIRL  <3

Labor signs: occasional braxton hicks

Belly button in or out: In

Wedding rings on or off: On

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy

Looking forward to: Holding my little girl!

Exercise: cardio/weights about 45 minutes a day. Sometimes I go a little over. I will probably only walk tomorrow because Laura's wedding is Saturday and it'll be a long day!

Additional Symptoms: still white mucus-like discharge, occasional back pain near my right hip. Breasts still huge. I am VERY ITCHY. Heart burn is back with a vengeance. I had as many tums as I was allowed yesterday and then last night had heart burn so bad, STILL, that I drank water with baking soda in it. That helped a lot. Getting out of bed and getting comfortable is harder and harder. OH. I keep forgetting. My abs have separated. I forgot to mention when I first noticed the line down my stomach - I think it was early in the second trimester. My abs separated pretty quick, why I stopped doing abdominal exercises so soon into second trimester.

26 Weeks

Over the weekend I threw Laura a bachelorette party - it was fun! My feet were killing me by the end of the night b/c I insisted on wearing my LB's.. They hurt for two days, haha.

Steve and I have gone back to thinking about a possible home birth this past week. We made it out of the question after hearing about a water birth leading to a baby's death in TX. Of course my studious husband looked more into it and found that they had used tap water instead of distilled or purified -- big NO-NO. I have quite a list of questions for my midwife appointment on Monday, and Tuesday we have set up an appointment to interview a doula regarding home birth/water birth and a variety of other questions. I already feel confident we will end up going with this doula (given who recommended her and her online ratings/reviews) but I am looking forward to picking her brain about home births that she has done and recommendations.
Here's my thoughts about having a baby in a hospital... I want my baby when she's born unless there is a medical reason they need her. It is ridiculous for a child to be taken from their mother and lay in a warmer. That's what I'm for. I want my baby at all times. I don't want pressure b/c I'm on a time clock the moment I check-in to the hospital. It may take a while to labor. That's natural. I don't want pressure from nurses, midwives, drs, etc., to resort to medications to speed along the process. I also question my ability to relax in a hospital. Staff will be coming in and out to check on the baby and I, and I'm not sure at this point how much that will bother me during painful contractions. I'm also not excited about having to stay in the hospital simply because I had a baby. I want to find out how long I "have" to stay and why. I'm 100% positive unless there is something actually WRONG that I will get better sleep and rest in my own home, leading to recovery. I'm not thrilled about the idea that just because I love my midwife and entrust her to deliver my baby and help me get the experience I want, she may not be the one to deliver my baby. She may not be on call. When I get there, she may have been there for 48 hours and legit need to go home and rest. Really not liking the idea of not knowing who will actually deliver my baby and how they will feel about my wishes during delivery. Then there is the fact that I KNOW I will be tempted to have an epidural if I am in the hospital and have the option. My will power is strong sometimes, but I question my ability to stick to my guns during labor - I have nothing to compare it to, I can't possibly know what I'll do in that much pain. If I'm at home, I don't have the option. ;)
I do feel confident that I've chosen the best hospital in the area for me, though. We will see!

How far along: 26 Weeks

Total weight gain: 18lbs :( I started counting calories. I do not want to gain over 30lbs.

Maternity clothes: Some

Stretch marks: No

Sleep: Not well, but I will say that we started using our humidifier and that has helped a ton!

Best moment of this week: Yesterday we had a Perfect Day in regards to weather. It was incredible. We sat outside and enjoyed every second. It's hot again today, but it was a nice break! I'm so looking forward to fall.

Miss anything: I'm a bridesmaid in Laura's wedding in a week and a half, so I'm trying to not eat all the crap I had been eating.. so I miss junk food. lol THAT is why I've gained so much weight - it is not "just the baby" (BTW, she's around 2 pounds this week <3 ) Also still missing the energy/motivation to eat well, keep up with house work, actual work, etc.. :/

Movement: a LOT.

Food cravings: Braum's banana split. Pizza & beer.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope

Have you started to show yet: Yes.

Gender: GIRL!  <3

Labor signs: braxton hicks

Belly button in or out: In

Wedding rings on or off: On

Happy or moody most of the time: Moody

Looking forward to: Not really sure. I'm anxious about so much right now! Normally I would look forward to better looking arms after a couple of weeks heavy training & eating well, but my body doesn't respond during pregnancy like before so I don't know what to expect haha!

Exercise: cardio + weights 45 minutes a day. Sometimes I go a little over.

Additional Symptoms: still yellow or white mucus-like discharge, occasional back pain, stomach itches like crazy, as I mentioned above... Still having a hard time pooping, but it is noticeably better when I eat less and healthier foods. Extra gassy. Breasts still huge. I have noticed I've been extra itchy the last week or so, all over.

24 Weeks Pregnant :)

24w

I'm starting to look as tired as I feel. Blah. I have been more worrisome lately about my little one's health. For no reason given to me from a health care professional - just paranoid her heart will just stop and I'll lose her, complications after delivery, getting sick this winter, etc... One day at a time. I find myself rubbing my belly and saying "I love you" a lot. We pray over her a lot.

How far along: 24 Weeks

Total weight gain: almost 14 pounds. OUCH.

Maternity clothes: Some of both.

Stretch marks: No - but my stomach has been itching SO bad lately, I am starting to think I will by the end of this! I put lotion and oil on multiple times a day and rub my belly a lot instead of scratch.

Sleep: Not well at all. :(

Best moment of this week: Spending time with family over the weekend, finding some ADORABLE baby clothes and a chandelier for the nursery :) <3

Miss anything: Everything. lol This week I especially miss having energy and running.

Movement: Yes, a LOT. She's getting crazy in there! ;)

Food cravings: Nothing in particular. Just super lazy and not wanting to cook so I eat out more. :/
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope

Have you started to show yet: Yes.

Gender: GIRL!!  <3

Labor signs: braxton hicks

Belly button in or out: In - but it sure looks funny!

Wedding rings on or off: On

Happy or moody most of the time: Some days happy, some days, in Steve's words, "extra sassy"

Looking forward to: hopefully getting the nursery done this weekend! and by done I mean only baby things in there because right now we still have a lot of office crap and wine. We don't actually have ANY nursery furniture yet.

Exercise: Stopped doing abs - even when I only do a couple to show clients it feels super uncomfortable. And just holding a plan position during pushups hurts now. This week I had more cardio days (because I like it hehe :D ) and 2-3 days of full body weight workouts. I've started doing squats every day, this week 300 a day. I'm not sore at all and it's not hard to do, just time consuming and I often forget or get distracted in between sets.

Additional Symptoms: still yellow or white mucus-like discharge, occasional back and hip pain (not usually the same time), stomach itches like crazy, as I mentioned above... Still having a hard time pooping, but it is noticeably better when I eat less and healthier foods. I have noticed lately when I go to the bathroom (just urinate) that I feel pressure near where I think the bottom of my uterus is. Or maybe it's my bladder. I really don't know where anything is anymore. lol Not burning, but that's another thing to worry about. So I've been drinking a lot of cranberry juice and water, hoping it's not an UTI. The last couple appointments I haven't had urine tests - I don't know why, because I thought it was standard. I'll be sure to bring it up next appointment.
